Scott’s Cabin

Scott’s Cabin is located on Godley Head further around to the left.

The cabin was built in the UK and taken to Antarctica with Captain Falcon Scott’s 1910-1913 Terra Nova expedition for meteorological observations and research, but was never used after the meteorologist was unable to join the expedition. The hut was then brought back to Christchurch and several people linked to the expedition lived in it for short periods of time.

The cabin was gifted to DOC in 2013 and was then relocated to Godley Head.
